Burr Hand
Job Description:
This position is primarily responsible for burring, polishing and finishing products by removing excess or oversized material, burrs, sharp edges, scratches and other surface imperfections of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing the following duties personally or through the direction of the Machining/Fabrication Supervisor.

- Responsible for burring, polishing and finishing products by removing excess or oversized material, burrs, sharp edges, scratches and other surface imperfections
- Performs burring and/or finishing operations on various machined components by referring to blueprints and other instructions as it relates to the surface/part finish
- Checks dimensions and physical status of parts to determine the burring method required to correct discrepancies, exercise caution to prevent abnormal alterations
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Responsible for checking quality of parts produced versus print/model prior to releasing to the next department
Job Requirements:
- Possess experience in all aspects of burring, polishing and inspecting one’s own work
- Ability to understand drawings and other written specifications or instructions
- Manage one’s own time effectively
- Must be able to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and tape measure (inches and metric)
- Attention to detail is crucial; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality;

- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job solely operates in the machining and fabrication department. This role routinely uses burr tools, sanding equipment and parts tumbler. Employee will also be using measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and tape measure.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift 75 pounds. Moving manual push carts with heavier weights at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required from time to time to meet the demands.
Wage:
The starting wage for this position is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour.
Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required; college/technical degree, preferred
- One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of metric system a plus but not required
- Knowledge of engineered blueprints is required
