Prevention of workplace injuries is one of the most important priorities in any responsible workplace. Preventing workplace injuries saves time and money for employers and results in happier and more productive workers.
Among the leading causes of workplace injuries are musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) – those affecting the muscles, nerves, and tendons. Accounting for almost 30% of all workers’ compensation costs in the United States (BLS), MSDs like sprained muscles, ligament sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, herniated discs, and others are a particularly common in industries relying on manual tasks like bending and lifting. The material handling industry is no exception to this rule, contributing “to a large percentage of the overhalf a million cases of musculoskeletal disorders reported annually in the United States” (CDC).
Fortunately, musculoskeletal workplace injuries are largely preventable through worker training and ergonomic improvements. mk North America offers several products that can be used to improve workplace ergonomics and other safety concerns.
Designed for applications and processes that require parts to travel in a continuous loop, while evenly spaced, to various workstations, the Modul Con conveyor from mk North America delivers reliable performance.
Versatile Design
Modul Con conveyors are designed using ANSI hollow pin chain running its edge. Various shape pallet, attachments and/or fixtures are bolted to the chain at intervals specific to the application's needs. The attachments can be supplied by the customer or designed, built, and installed prior to shipping by mk. Further adding to the modularity of this system, the chain is available in ½-inch, ¾-inch or 1-inch pitch. Attachments are added at a spacing compatible with the chain pitch and boost the possibility of changing the attachment spacing in the future. Attachments can range in size from 1-inch diameter up to 36-inch square.
There’s more to many modern conveyors than just some rollers and a belt. Conveyor equipment is machinery as like any other, requiring regular maintenance to work its best. Whether you’re trying to keep an old conveyor system as long as possible before replacing it or being proactive in keeping a newer system shiny and new, the following are universal best practices to keep your belts moving and gears turning.
Few industries are as fluid or fast-moving as electronics. The rate at which development and disruption can radically alter the industrial landscape means that electronics manufacturers need to be as flexible as possible in order to survive in today’s market.
In today’s manufacturing environment, it is often necessary to positively maintain a product's location and orientation in order to properly engage it during the assembly or testing phase. Other times products need to maintain a precise spacing and/or be indexed in synch with other equipment. Attachment timing belt conveyors are uniquely designed for these applications. mk North America offers several options for this conveyor type that may work for your particular needs.
Exploring Attachment Timing Belt Conveyors
Attachment timing belt conveyors are typically supplied in one of two ways. They can either be supplied with the attachments bolted to the belt or with the attachments adhered to it. Both of these configurations have their pros and cons, explored below.
